Kalee Eich, RDH, HIAOMT, is a premier speaker and top biological dental hygienist practicing in one of the leading biological dental offices in the United States. This course will bridge the gap between oral health and systemic physiology, reframing periodontal disease as a manifestation of broader metabolic, inflammatory, airway, sleep, and lifestyle-driven processes. Together, we will explore how oral dysbiosis, airway dysfunction, sleep disruption, skeletal muscle health, inflammation, and glycemic control intersect to influence periodontal stability and whole-body health. Special emphasis will be placed on translating these connections into clinical practice through objective data, including aMMP-8 testing to identify active collagen breakdown and disease activity. Learning Outcomes:- Identify key oral-systemic connections, including metabolic dysfunction, inflammation, and microbial imbalance in periodontal disease progression.
- Explain how airway health, sleep quality, and skeletal muscle function influence oral inflammation, glycemic control, and healing capacity.
- Apply salivary diagnostics, including aMMP-8 testing, to assess active disease and enhance clinical decision-making.
